We're So Glad You Are Here

The Cronin Gallery at Water Street Market brings together original paintings, drawings, and sculpture alongside fine art prints, clothing, and objects for everyday living. All in one place, in the heart of New Paltz, New York.

Save the Date — Upstate Art Weekend, June 25–29, 2026. The Cronin Gallery is participating. More details coming soon.

The Gallery Experience

The Cronin Gallery at Water Street Market is where the work lives in New Paltz. It is not a white-cube gallery — it is an approachable, rotating space with paintings, drawings, and sculpture from across three decades of practice, all available to live with.

Water Street Market is one of the Hudson Valley's most beloved gathering places — an independent, European-inspired village of shops, eateries, a sculpture garden, and the Denizen Theatre, tucked into the heart of New Paltz. The gallery sits at the center of it. Come for the art, stay for the afternoon.

The gallery is run by Melanie and a small, dedicated team who know the work deeply. Every conversation is unhurried. If you want to know about a piece — where it came from, what period it represents, how it was made — you are in the right place. Collectors come back. First-time visitors stay longer than they planned.

Ryan is not typically in the gallery — he is in the studio, making work. But if you would like to meet him, studio visits are available by appointment. Reach us at 845.430.8470 to arrange one (text preferred).

Open every day except Tuesday through May 1, then seven days a week. Hours are noon to six or by appointment. We are sometimes out delivering work, so we recommend texting ahead before you make the trip.

Eric Gullickson, President, Mohonk Mountain House

"At a time when the world continues to be increasingly complex, Ryan's work for me represents a more simple, raw, and refreshingly honest application. It's interesting how people often want to make sense out of a piece of art or a particular painting, they seem uncomfortable unless they understand it and make terms with what it represents for them — this is not how I choose to interpret Ryan's work. I appreciate his unapologetic in-your-face style — it reminds me to take more time enjoying my own creative process and in turn rely less on others' interpretations of the outcome."
