Yellow American Finch
Yellow American Finch
*Yellow American Finch* is a painting of a transformation. The male starts brown, then turns yellow, and Cronin painted the bird at full conversion. Not a rendering of a finch, but an abstraction of one. A few decisive shapes, a flash of yellow, the etched marks across the nest reading like sheet music. Song notes pressed into the paint.
The American Finch lives in Cronin's realm. Their song is the soundtrack of the studio. He painted what was around him.
The bird is there for whoever sees it. And once you do, you can't unsee it.
